If you had to choose one samurai...

Hello everybody.
I am interested in your thoughts about the samurai.
If you could only get one Samurai spin rod for bream, for plastics and hard bodies use, which model would it be?
Cheers.

Hmmm might have seen similar discussions on this topic before!

I had the choice and went for the 101 but considering getting a 201 also!

Yeah i know!
But the other post basically say the 101 is good for light hards, 201 is good for plastics and the 203 for hard bodies.
If you could get one what would it be?
And does anyone know if a twinpower 1000 matches any very well?

I like the 201 and 203 and yes the 1000 would match all of the bream series.

i predominantly fish hbs so went the 203 would love to get a 201 for plastics but cant justify it. on sunday i used it for plastics feels a bit different due to the rod moving from further down the blank. but at the end of the day i only had 2 hits and landed both so it obviously sets the hooks ok on plastics. at first it felt a bit noodley but now most rods just feel to stiff to me. hope this helps.

I don't know about Bream but Im getting a look at the 7ft 30lb and 7ft 40lb sticks in about an hour, if one suits I might just add it to the collection.

cheers

I have not fished the 101 but if you can only afford one really nice rod then I would not go the 201 or 203.

I use my 201 as a plastics rod but when I have also used it as a topwater rod I have pulled lots of hooks with it. It's a pretty beefy stick, easy good enough to tame bass and small snapper. I use a really slow taper rod made for PE with my hard bodies.

Ask some other people how they go with their 101's, what weights they cast and what fish it handles.

I'm sure there are lots of other good all rounders out there too.

Also depends if you are just fishing bream and not too much bycatch. Where I fish there are big flathead and cod and if you have a noodle type rod, you won't even get them up off the bottom.

Mick.

Hey guys,

Has anyone used the 7'6" Samurai Egi rods for bream? Thinking they might make a good flats/straight through fluro rod...

Cheers,
Paul

Own the 203 and love it and use it for placcies and never pulled the hooks,I did pick up the new model 201's and they do feel better suited to plastics work -was so tempted to add it to my arsenal and for the price they are very affordable for a high end stick
