Trion Vs Jewel?

hey guys, im currently limited to spending $200 on a new combo, my current 2 options are:

Jewel 762 Spin 2Pce 1-3KG 2.29M - $138
Sienna SN 1000FD - $59

Or A

Pflueger Trion Spin6'6" 2-4kg 2pc - $125
Shimano Sienna SN 2500FB - $59


What would you recommend?

No experience with the Trion but I can recommend the Jewel, very nice rod.

Unless you really need the combo right now i suggest you stick it out with what ya got and save up some more and get ya self a better quality rod and reel.

Trion buddy, I have 3 of them in different models and they are all great rods for the price. After about 2 years of use am I starting to upgrade. I rate them highly

Get a trion but wait til you find one on sale, usually 99 dollars. Then match it with a symetre or Sedona.

I run the same setup, jewel and sienna 1000, love it...
I wouldnt get a sienna 2500 cause it has same drag as the 1000 but is a lot heavier. I have a 2500 and 2x 1000's, caught some good fish on it.

Mate i have seen the Berkley Dropshot recently for $99 for club members of a certain store. Worth a look. Feels very nice and has Fuji guides and reel seat. Was going to get one myself a 6'6 1-3kg. Whack a sedona 2500 or a penn sargus (very good value imo) on it and your laughing.

Check M O Tackles website, they have daily specials and I got my jewel from them for $99 because they had raiders on special but had none in stock.

BTW - The Jewel rods are $99 today from a certain tackle store...

As it happens, I used a Trion and a Jewell side by side last weekend.

Personally, I think the componentry and general workmanship on the Jewell was better. It just felt like a better, tougher Rod. I also found the Trion to be a lot less stiff in the final third which can be a good or bad thing I guess depending on the application.

Both of them seem very good for the price though.

Trion, I have a couple and love them. They were the first breaming rods I bought and have upgraded since but still feel the urge to pull them out every now and then, just for memories of catching my first bream on lures.

BUt the Jewel also looks great, there is another Shimano rod (SSS) I can't remember what the SSS stands for but B C F stock them and they are only $60 and feel really nice for the price. I guess that will leave you some extra $$$ for a little better reel. Maybe a Symetre or something similar.
