Speak to ANY of the "complete angler" stores.
I have a Daiwa Heartand coursing rod & snapped the tip off it. Not hard to do as the tip has a 1.5mm diameter. It was a discontinued model, but Lofty @ complete anger Dandenong got one in for me. Took a while as it came in from OS, but well worth the effort. I realise the initial post here was pretty old, but hey... |

I know this sounds like a sales pitch for a custom rod and that is because it is. Just spelling that out for JP............
Anyway I busted my heartland, the guides are awesome so I brought a samurai blank and got them put on there. I just saw the USA blanks the other day and I was very impressed they start at about $90 retail and the samurais are about $70 ish Built up the whole thing cost me about $150 which is better than nothing. Evan has had one built up on a USA and they feel pretty bloody good.......... |

yes as Ira said i recently got a Graphite USA made up with some spare guides i had left over from my snapped Diako (another Japanese rod Scorchy)
anyway this rod is a UR56L, 5'6 Light and its a mad rod... its a 95% graphite 5% glass mix and i swear that its almost indestructible. Ive had it bent soo much that its almost formed an O shape... the best bit about it though is that it only cost me $90 for the blank and better still its got a lifetime unconditional warranty. the reason why i went the glass was primarily because i needed a HB rod for the comp and the 100% graphite blank was not in stock. but basically the mixed blank has the same graphite feel to it but its just a tad heavier than the 100%. not much only talking a matter of grams. they also do a DHX range which is thier top of the line models. you are looking at a couple of hundred for these. Bream Master just got these in stock so if you are looking for a rod check them out. i heard a little whisper that BM will be making some up for those people that dont want it made up themselves. i think there appears to be a myth going around that custom built rods cost the earth, but mine (with myself supplying the guides ) only cost me around $200. (Iras samurai was $150) i think a set of fuji alconites which all the higher priced struddies and loomis's use only costs about $50 so for around $250 you get a fully built rod made just the way you like it. anyway this is something to think about before you make your next purchase.. |

Hey lowrider
isn't ur Z repairable?? have U asked the tackle shop if they can bring in a replacement tip?? otherwise saving the guides for a custom rod is a very good idea. Saves a fair bit too. |

Just a question guys (or a thought) ... all these HLZ's that are breaking... are the majority of these models of the 'solid slim' design?
Just wondering if the more solid blanks in the HLZ range have a little less 'give' in them than the tubular design (ie. magnum taper, etc) I'm sweating my box off waiting for mine to break now ![]() And Scorchy, you're a troglodyte. No need to attempt a sh!t-flinging contest re: Heartland-Z's again. Craig H

FYI Scorchy: Ira shut his Heartland Z in a rod locker. Oh but wait, because he paid $300-odd for it - it should be indestructable, right?
Craig - Don't sweat about yours (what model no. is it?) - give it sh!t and it shouldn't break. If it does, and it's obviously not your fault (ie. at some sort of a stress fault like an over-tight binding... or a fairly even crack), return it to where you bought it and ask for a replacement. Good tackle shops will contact the rep. and get them to assess whether the rod was previously damaged in transit / damaged shop stock / built with faults etc. Remember they're not custom rods and essentially you're paying for the componentry not a custom job, so once in a while there will be some whoopsies. I've heard of just as many other top-shelf brands having breakages and as with these you'll be able to get a warranty replacement (or credit if rod is NLA). cheers

Mate the only way you're going to bust a Jerking Special is if you attach it to a reel which can give you about 7kg+ of drag and spool it with 10lb Fireline. They're tough as hell, and will certainly handle any bream you'll ever catch in the Swan. If one breaks and it's not your fault, it can be replaced no worries - I believe there are some around. And no matter what some skeptics say (
), the warranty is perfectly valid if the rod breakage is clearly not your fault.cheers

I want my rod back
Just some more info on my own Heartland ( remember,, it was my post that started all this s----t ) the guys at the Morley store Chris have had a look at the rod and are waiting for the rep to call in, they reckon there should be no problem replacing the rod, a jerkin special as there is no sign of abuse etc and the rod was brand new. Don't start on the crap about how bad Z's are, they are great rods and all I want is mine back in action, jeez Scorchy, what the hell is wrong with you... Neville
