Damiki Ripper

Hey people,

Bought a packet of Damiki 4" rippers, and I was wondering what the most effective retrieves are as well a suitable jighead size? Ill be fishing the Maribyrnong river.

Cheers,
danz

If your fish are sitting deep I usually use a 1/8th head get it down to the bottom let it sit then give it a couple hops/single long draw/a shake or what ever works on the day then let it setting n sit and repeat. Give the tail a chance to work it's magic.

for the nong fish it as light as possible.

1 or 1.5gram would be fine.

when working them i use a fairly high rod so the ripper pops up off the bottom, moving the tail around all over the place then pause.

i use this method on a few different species, just varying the jighead to suit the conditions...trout, redfin, bream, perch, snapper, flathead...they all love the rippers!! Even my 5 year old some catches fish on them.

thats probably the most basic why i use them, i also texas rig them but thats not really needed for the nong...normally

Went down to the Nong for a flick today to try out the new plastics...did not even get a bite on the ripper or and of my plastics for that matter, not even the F GRUB!!!! This is even with plenty of twitches and the odd pause. What made it worse was the baitos reeling 25cm+ bream one after the other on bread. very demoralising
