I was initially put off by stories of too many bones but the fillets peel right off.

And when you dust them with flour - shallow fry them in some secret herbs and spices - they are worth the hassle

I've caught one on lure before but have never really targeted them.

What I want to know is - are they worth chasing in lures.

I'm there to get a feed, so if bait is the best way to go I'll stick with it. But if you can get just as many on lures I'd be interested in giving it a go

Actually - Just found some jigheads that might fit with some cut down snap-backs. And if that doesnt work, I'll see if the nudge a Vibe.

Be back in a few hours.......

g factor has caught them on power nymphs, not sure if he used jigheads or small standard hooks.

Seen the odd one taken on a crankbait/fouled in the face but reckon your best bet for starters would be an unweighted bait jig or flies.

No idea what they're like where you fish YD but down here they're good fun to chase on lures, especially when a few sea gars run in amongst them.

try 4" sandworms and turtlebacks set up weedless and unweighted and if they're schooled up shallow throw out a bubble pop 35 or similar. We get them chasing 45s and bigger poppers but the hooks aren't quite small enough.

I have caught a legal gar on a bassday vibe before, and it was hooked in the mouth. Never have caught any others since that though

I usually use a sabiki baitfish type hook with a bit of bread, which is similar to what I assume you already do.
I've caught a couple on a clear mighty pepper before, haven't tried since as there's no real fight in em and I'm not all that big on keeping gar.
