Yamah CV25 & CV30

Hi All

I have a Yamaha CV25 and looking at and comparing it to the CV30 they are the same motor. I was wondering if anyone has ever fixed a CV25 to make it a 30.

Regards
Leachy

From what I've read there is a restrictor pin on the throttle. Just have to take that out and you're laughing. Could be insurance issues on your boat though if something ever happened.

I had a look at my brother in-laws CV30 at the linkages throtle, pulled nothing apart though. From what I can see the carb is the same, part numbers and all that. I have not checked the carb throat diametre or if mine or if it is fully opening up, but I would have to assume so, mine does not sound like it could rev any harder. The top speed on the GPS Huminbird was 46Km/h or 26 Knots.

Might have something to do with the power head. I know the older Yams when they were called Mariners and the older Mercs changed their horsepower by changing the power heads.

This is a 2005 model the same as my brother in-laws. every thing is the same apparently some time ago Yamaha where offering the CV 30 for only $30 more than the CV25 so there cant be that much of a difference. I dont really need the extra power but it would just be good to know I am running a more effecient (size/power ratio) motor.
