Thumbs up to Daiwa

Hi there,

As some will know I purchased a Steez second hand recently and didn't feel the reel was living up to expectations.

I popped it off to Daiwa on Thursday 9/12 and it came back on Monday 13/12.

Parts replaced were "the drive set, OSE gear and a bearing". It feels much better now... I'll hold off saying my expectations are satisfied until I get to have a few casts with it, but it's a pretty safe bet.

Cheers

Matt.

That’s new. Every dealing I have ever had with Daiwa Australia was very dissatisfying... They take FOR EVER to get my reels back from a service. I waited on a rotor for a 2004 exist for 7 months!

Sorry to say the same has happened for me, three out of three times! Glad it didn't go down that way for you, maybe I am just unlucky!

BUT......ive needed a few parts now and again over the past 18 months and they have been very helpful

Had good and bad dealings with Daiwa but i have heard they are improving the service department, glad to hear its sorted.. Seriously though to anyone that thinks there top end reel is not up to the standards it should be, don't pull them appart yourself to try fix them, they are designed to be dealt with by daiwa experts send it to them and let them fix them.. It probably will save them time and you money if the reel is out of warranty

Had a flick this afternoon.. Expectations satisfied. So THIS is what a top shelf light spinning reel feels like? It's a far cry from how it felt when I first received it, let alone right before I sent it away.

All I can notice now is a light whirring as the gears mesh effortlessly. Can't wait to hook up onto some decent fish with it now.

Just the $16-$17 it cost to platinum express post it down to Daiwa.

Good to hear.

Did you go direct or via a local tackleshop? Did you just use the address on the website / warranty card?

Direct to Daiwa.. I was told that it tends to take longer via tackle shops.

http://daiwafishing.com.au/?page_id=182 - As per there, top address.

Incidentally I sent a reel back for a customer about 8 months ago when I was working at Anaconda. I used the 'delivery address'. From memory the reel came back in about a week. It was a Daiwa Jupiter from memory... Mind you, the customer had to wait a little over a fortnight because the reel sat out the back un-sent. :-/

Could it be that it sat at Billfisher for six and a half months before Daiwa ever heard of it???????????????????????
