jack plates

gday guys just wanted some advice im lokking to buy a 125opti and was wondering if a jacking plate would benefit me i know no one runs them on 115 hp but wasnt shaw if it would benefit me any help would be great thanks

A jack plate has nothing do do with motor selection really. You can put any motor on a jack plate.

Jack plates are all about the hull/motor combination characteristics and how moving the motor further and/or higher away from the transom can improve the way the hull performs.

What hull are you thinking of?

looking at a stratos 275xl , thanks for that ive seen a few with same motor some have a 4 inch jack plate some have none just wasnt to sure. thanks

When getting my boat .I made some enquiries about a jack plate and was told to expect about a 5 mph increase in speed.

I didn't bother and in 3 years only once wished I could go a little faster.

For the cost, I wouldnt bother, unless you get some fantastic changes in performance.


Ask the dealer you are buying the boat from they should be the best or maybe ask the guys at skeeter aus , they would know quite a bit about them.

Skeet,

I run a 135 Opti on a CMC jacking plate. The plate has allowed me to easily play with engine height adjustment and get the boat running just right.
