Just want some opinions...
Hey fellas,
As some may know, a little while back I broke my graphite leader Vigore 7'2" rod ( tip snapped). Since then I have been using other rods whilst waiting on a quote for a tip replacement. Since purchasing a new rod, I am looking at selling the vigore anyway, but seeing as the tip has snapped, no one will really want it, and if they do, they certainly wont want to pay the same price id sell it for if it was second hand in good condition. So my question is, would you guys try and sell a 500 dollar rod ( including the postage it cost to get it to australia, 450 otherwise) for really cheap with the broken tip, in the hope that someone will opt to repair it or buy the tip section themselves, or, buy the tip section for roughly 200 bucks, then sell it all for roughly 400. Im just a bit stumped as to what I should do. I was thinking about getting it repaired, then selling it, but then the price will drop heaps anyway. Any ideas welcome ![]() Thanks guys! |

if i fix it, it will have cost me 700 all up. Hypothetically, if i sell it for 400, I lose 300. If I sell it as is for 200, I lose 250. The question is, would anyone buy it for 200...
and your only saying that because you want it, haha |

Throw it out
buy a non stupidly priced rod without the hype that costs stuff all to replace a section (that you can actually purchase within Aus) It's just bream stick mate

Listen G,
We all loose money on fishing gear, unfortunately they are depreciating items, considering it is snapped it is worth what someone is willing to pay, dont be too worried on how much your loosing, cut your losses and sell it as is, if the buyer can be bothered to order a new top half good luck to them. |

I know rods loose value, thats standard, but it just sucks as I love to look after my gear so when I have to sell something so cheap because of something i did to it, well its pretty frustrating. Fin, Quiet your face

I would suggest you fix it and then use it.
I guess the quality of Vigore would be better than LOX? ![]() This is the pain of ordering rod from JP online store......btw, do u hv the warrantee card? It's like a paper inside an envelop. I bet u dont. For JDM rods cost more than 10,000 yen (or 20,000yen depends on which company), there would be a warrentee card, that if you break the rod, you can have the replacement in a much lower price (several thousands yen up, depends on which model). If not, the replacement can cost half price of a new rod, or even higher for 2pc rod. Many online stores dont give you this card because they think that you guys dont know, unless you ask them. Sometimes they would tell you that the card cannot be used outside Japan but that's not true. Anglers from Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan....etc who are using JDM rods are all enjoying that warrantee. In second hand market, those rods without warrantee card can only be sold in a cheaper price, than those with it. So those mates who are going to buy JDM rods online in the future, remember you SHOULD ASK for that and then they will give u. Now, think about it. Everytime those online stores sell a rod and keep the card, what would they use it for?............

but theyre really not bad...I admkit there are SLIGHTLY better rods out there like megabass, or even some of the high end daiwa stuff, but they are only slightly infront of the lox range

When I broke my Graphiteleader, I removed the guides and used parts of the grip, then bought a blank and now it is being getting built into a custom.
Or you can sell it as it is and let somebody else owrry about ordering a new tip. OR you can buy a replacement tip and keep using it. Cheers, Daiwafreak |
