Oz Post - Highway #%$@ Robbery
No wonder companies here can't compete.
My son left his sunnies at his great gran's so she thought she'd do the right thing and send it back in the mail. $4.55 plus the cost of a bubble bag to go from Quinns to Kalamunda. @#^$#@$%^ robbery. I can get express post from the US to Perth on my fly gear for only $5US.

You know the drill, US massive population = more cost effective. I have had rods delivered from US in a tube under $40 by fex ex air. In Aus local post is heaps expensive as no competition for the ave punter. Cost me that much to send a couple of lures, if I go express then double it for no more then 5 hardbodies! Lucky didn't swear LOL. Cheers |

It does suck Bear, we deal with freight everyday and it is one of the biggest cost to a business. Half the time it doesn't get delivered when it is supposed to as well which makes my job harder trying to keep my clients happy.

The postage cost me $15 and they sent the rod by courier in a massive 90 mm dia plastic water down pipe as a rod tube. The sticker says Australian Air Express services. Ordered on Monday arvo, received Wed. morning in Melbourne. I reckon it's a fair price for what it was (and heavy!). There are some alternatives to Aus. Post these days no doubt. Cheers, |

I mean you are talking the cost of upgrading to owners on a couple of lures...;-) (and please don't say its the prinicple- its like saying Im not a racist BUT).... BTW $5 in the swear jar Mr do as I say not as I do!!!! ![]() Cheers TB |

Maybe you need to read the post again. I didn't pay this, my pensioner gandmother did. Eyes open........... I still think $5 for a pair of kids sunnies is a rip off I can send a rod for $13, but it costs $5 for something not much bigger than a letter.

Fair enough but I don't think its that much of a rip off. How much do you think a small parcel of that size should be sent for? I mean it's not an envelope so you surely cannot be suggesting that it cost $1-2.
I had some stuff sent this week from the USA. A rod cost me $75 shipping USPS (not express and not courier) and a baby carrier (basically a backpack) cost $70 bucks to ship. I cannot imagine how you got fly gear sent from the USA to Aust (especially west coast) for $5. Maybe you can negotiate my next transaction for a cut on the shipping that you save me! Understand your position mate just not sure I agree with it. Maybe use this as a lesson to the son for forgetting the sunnies and make him wash the boat for a month to pay nana back!!!! ![]() ![]() TB |

Why are our Australian skies blue? I hate it that colour someone should do something about. It also reflects off the water and make it blue too. I've seen other countries skies without colour, it just not right.

Venting is fun and healthy! My turn.....
bear- vent away mate...I'm just playing....;-)
You wanna hear a real vent? I just had two boats shipped over from the USA and my import agent failed to fill out one measly form...now they are trapped on the docks and the original certificate we need to present to customs with the recently filled out form is in one of the hatches on the boat. The catch is that the boat cannot be accessed under Australian Law until the original certificate in the boat is presented. A catch-22 if I have ever seen one...... Anyone else need to vent? I feel better already.....
