Question Stella 4000FD or Stella 5000SW

Hi All,
Just a quick question on anyones opinion on both reels or any suggestions on which one to get. Do not have alot of time to pick between the two due to an impatient wife and my 30th bday coming up so the ultimatum is pick one or she will pick one for me lol. The main fishing I will be doing with the reel is mainly barra and sooty fishing and maybe throw some poppers around for the odd gt and queenie. My main query would be for the 4000fd if it would be big enough to handle Barra and queenies etc etc on a regular basis.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
......Rob

Havent used the SW but I have a 4000FD and its a sweet reel. Caught a few good Spanglies on it and was flawless. Great reel.

I too have had a 4000FD for many years, always fished 30lb braid and fished it hard, it has caught a lot of large fish and is still flawless.

Depends on the rod and how you fish.... If you're mainly flicking light lures around and constantly twiching lures then I'd go the FD. The SW is a fair bit bigger and heavier. If you are running heavy ie 30lb ish.... and a rather powerful rod then the SW will be better suited. I have both....(SW6000PG and 4000FD) the FD was too tedious and slow for jigging and chucking large (50-100gm) lures around and the handle was too small for that kind of work so got the larger reel for it. I mainly use my FD for chucking lures 45gm and under and working slower lures and plastics. Its also on a very skinny rod with size 16 reel seal. The SW is currently on a PE3 jig stick.
