loomis expeditor warranty change

If you break a loomis rod from now on,the expeditor warranty is half of what you paid for the rod,its pretty ordinary when retailers were told it would stay the same when shimano took over from ej todd even though shimano own loomis. Will be interesting if aussie dollar goes down and loomis glx rods are back to 700 plus.

rrumbles, I just sent back a broken mossy back under the shimano system, rod was $60 more expensive to replace, however the tackle shop advised that the retail price on a new rod price had come down $150 at the same time. The new rod price was brought down to tackle the nitro type rods and their pricing.

ej todd are/have replaced the loomis range with another rod brand - the tackle shop would not say who, just to keep an eye out. details here: http://www.ejtodd.com.au/news/news_u...une%202010.pdf

with the lower new price, it will make the 2nd hand loomis' a lot cheaper as well.

If this is true, I don't this is a very good move for Loomis/Shimano or whoever that makes these business decisions these days given one of the attractive points points about Loomis is the expediter warranty at $150 for non GLX and $200 for GLX. Halving it will now make it at least $200+ for most rods and $340+ for GLX models.

So now it will cost $340 + just to get a replacement for my beloved 820 GLX instead of $200 is that correct!

D, have a look at the new pricing, this is what the expiditor warranty fee will be based on, not what you previously paid. Also keep in mind that there will be stock in stores that was purchased under the EJ Todd system & EJ Todd may have discounted stock to clear out their warehouse. It may take a couple of months to "work" through the system with stock supplied by shimano. JMO

I still find it strange that people factor in the thought of snapping their rods when they purchase them

I've done a good 15 years of fishing and I'm still yet to snap a rod ( I guess I must just be a little more careful than other people )

Not so strange. Lots of people buy insurance.

For me, I haven't bought a Loomis Rod because I felt the cost rod, included an insurance markup that i didn't want to pay.

I have built one though. With better components than come on the "original".

They do make a good blank.

its a typical corporarte take over money grab.increase profit at all costs.

just i am leaning away from shimano towards diawa for my reels[quality/performance reasons],i will now lean towards another product for my rods if this expeditor thing is true[cost/value reasons].

there are so many cost effective ,good value rods on the market now,we dont need to take that sort of slap in the face.the reason i chose loomis in the 1st place was the reasonable warranty.

might have a look at the samiki range,i yhink they have a warranty thing going also.

cheers

Hi Derrick,

Looking at the price list if yours is the DSR820S GLX then the xpediter cost will be $277.50

Cheers, Jan.
