Reel for MB Kirisame 69XKS

I've done it... I've ordered the Kirisame 69XKS After a week of indecisive battles with myself I ended up choosing Kirisame 69XKS over the TSR GLX. God damn it was a hard choice!

I'm gonna wait to receive it before getting a reel so I can feel what balances. Being a 1-3kg rod, what size reel should I get? 1000, 1003 or 2004 - I was keen on the 2004 and it'll balance well with a lot of rods.

Cheers

Wait untill you get the rod, 2004's can vary in over 50g in weight...

Megabasses are generally pretty well ballanced from factory but wait untill you get the rod before you decide what kind of weight you will need to balance it to you're feel (this changes based on personal preference, what lures you want to throw and how you hold you're rod). Or if you want to instead get the reel and fit aftermarked butt weights to balance it that way.

Yep, that was the plan.

Was wondering what size reel everyone uses for their 1-3kg.

Been using 2-4kg rods all my life and this is my first 1-3kg purchase

Go a 2004 mate, they are much more versatile than a smaller reel and quite suited to breaming

My bad. Depending on what you're mainly wanting to use it for, a 2004 for crank/small hardbaits or a 2506 for med hardbaits/plastics.

Steez 2508 balances perfectly with it, I have used the exact combination several times and it is perfect. 2004 is too light and you lose casting distance with the smaller spool diameter, specially with the lighter lures and unweighted plastics. Doubles as a killer snapper outfit as well.

If i had another choice i would go 2000 in a certate or 2500 in exist/steez. The kirisame is tip heavy but not too bad, I had a exist 1003 on mine and it was still ok when actually fishing with it.

the 69xks is lighter than the kirisame limited. i have the 50th anniversary edition on my limited and it balances nicely!
on the tourist mobile shaft which is a 2 piece, i have the 2004 exist on it and it too balances beautifully. the 69xks will be balanced nicely with the 2004 reels... or even the 1003! as a matter of fact, i feel that the a 2004 exist will be perfect on all kirisames... just my 2 cents.

I'll be mainly using it for small hb's, plastics and light blades - i guess pure light breaming.

I'll prob wait til i receive the rod, get home and ask you guys for further opinions.
