Flats rod help

Hey all,

I am in the market for a new flats fishing rod and think I have settled on the Megabass Shoreluck SL-82UL or the Megabass Shoreluck SL-710UL

Has anyone had any experience with either of these? i will be using the rod mainly for light to medium lures / plastics and the occassional squid massacre.

I am also interested to know what other rods are in a similar league with this i.e. ex-fast taper and u-light action, as an alternative option.

Thanks in advance guys.

Very suitable for squidding I would imagine considering its length. However not sure I know of many people who would say 8 foot 2 inches is the optimum length for a bream flats rod.

Have you played with one yet?

I have played with the 7'10" and I just thought the extra few inches would help with additional casting distance.

What length would you recommend? They come in a 6'4", 6'8", 7'4", 7'10", 8'2" and 8'5"

Not having used the rod this is pure speculation but would have thought the 7'4" or max 7'10" would be the way to go. But as i said pure speculation. You have at least played with one of them, I haven't held that model before.

smith dancing bream, the 7'2" version (black one) would be very cool, or loomis glx walleye, 7'6" 6-12lb. but light enough off the tip to punch any bream lure a country mile or the glx tsr series even, the 4-8lb. 7'2" model.

theres a few that come to mind

If you want to cast u/light lures around 2.5g the Dancing Bream isnt the best choice, much better suited 3.5g+ lures IMO

7'2 dancing bream is fine for using ul lures????? ..thats a pretty bad call...i regularly cast 1/32 ounce jig heads and sub 2 inch grubs with ease...???

anyways back on track... maybee go for a 7'8 dancing bream...in the lighter rating..[theres two dif models]

or a smith squid hearts also 7'8 but a bit heavier in action..but definately have pimp factor about them...

i agree i use mine purely as a hb rod and a towadi is really the only lure that i have found that cant be belted a country mile but thats where the bayliner comes in but even something like nories laydown minnow can be cast out of sight

Not saying it cant be used for ultra light lures, I do with mine sometimes. I just feel there are better choices out there for u/light lures, the Bayliner being one of them. Now thats an ace flats rod.
