How do you transport and store your rods?

I was thinking that I really need to buy some rod tubes for transporting my rods so that i can take 2 or more with me on foot, so i am wondering how do you transport your rods;

A. when your in the car
B. when your on foot
C. or on your boat
and D. how do you store them at home? (rod racks ETC.)

also same for your reels.

I have a padded aluminium case for the reels i use

Hey Hash with my 7 foot rods they go in the rod bag that is supplied but anything 2 piece will just be left with the reel attached sitting on the back seat. This is my preferred method of transporting rods from place to place in a car.

For transport get some pvc downpipe and end caps but pack the rods carefully. At home i have a rod rack the same as they have in the tackle stores.

Be careful when transporting rods in the heat as the epoxy can be effected as well as your tip moving.

At home they all sit in rod racks.

In the car I use the bag the rod came with, and one of those neoprene reel covers like below. Currently have a 7'2" 1 piece that gets thrown around in the car and haven't damaged it, or any other rod yet doing it this way.

at home we store them in rod racks.
in the car we transport them in PVS tubing whilst having them in fabric rod bags.
all the reels are rtansported in a plano reel case, whilst having either neoprene covers or in fabric bags
cheers

At home - Rod racks bolted into the wall
In the car - I dont transport rods very often in the car, but when I did they are either in the cab, or put in the tray.
On the boat - In home made verticle rod holders, or placed lying down along the gunnels.
I tend to leave my reels on the rod, I just take them every so often and give the rod a wash down where the reels were.

i use the jw rod tubes u can get from kmart. they are available in two sizes and come with straps, zip up opening and an address display. plus they are quite cheap.
i use them for in the car, on a plane and storage at home. i can store them in a messy shed with kids running around and don't have to worry about them getting damaged. i stash all my reels in a heavy duty pelican case that could probably take a bullet.
why risk something u paid so much for and love so much

cheers

Hash,
if I am travelling a short distance, I just rest the rods in the car. For longer trips I break down my gear: for my reels I have a bag with separate compartments, rods travel in tubes either in the boat or on roof racks. the JW tubes from KMart are padded, just not big enough for a few rods, so I have some 100mm PVC pipe, rods are then put in rod bags.
Attachment 41171
On foot: I have a back pack that has 2 straps at the back to hold an extra rod. Gear inside & all conatined and easy to fish.
In the boat: I have a berkley rod rack fixed to front of boat console. Attachment 41169
At home: I have horizontal wall mounted racks for my surf gear, shorter rods stored in wall mounted vertical racks. I generally wash, dry & lube the rods/reels after each trip. Attachment 41170

Any excess rods are stored in tubes on a shelf! I have insulated my shed & have the rod racks on the south & east walls to avoid the heat.

in the car:
I fold down the seat and throw them in from the back of the car

on foot:
I use the butt as a walking pole some times I use the tip as a whip to smash stuff with or to pick up things I drop

at home:
they are all stood up in the corner of the room with the butts stuck in a box so they don't fall over and damage the floor

if I am travelling a long distance they all go in a rod tube so they don't fly around the back of the car

all my rods are 1 piece

I do not treat my rods with much respect and have never snapped or damaged a rod so far
