Rod for 1 to 3kg line & 1 to say 4 gram lures,

Hello,
I'm looking for a rod capable of handling the above line and lure weights.

I've looked at the Samaki – Vamp 7' 6" Ultra-Light in this line and lure weight range. To me it has one down side, it's 2 piece.

I have a probably unfounded aversion to two piece rods.

Any suggestions for something else in a one piece?

I aim to fit a Shimano Stradic 1000FI reel to it and probably 2kg braid.

Geoff

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll have a look at them.

Say up to about $250?

I could go higher for decent quality, in my opinion cheap gear is only cheap on the day you buy it. It especially applies to rods and reels.

TD Sol ABT Limited Edition.

I saw you were from newcastle and there is a tackle world or tackle power there near the sandgate cemetery at the bottom of the hill on maitland road heading into newcastle.

They are selling there for $250.

Awesome rod, super crisp blank, top quality components, and made in limited numbers.

Also they are selling it as a combo woth an exceller plus for $350 if your looking for a combo.

Just my opinion

Boris

have a look at trion tournament series, bream specialist
2-5kg rod but it is incredibly light for this rating because of the gator-tail feature (unsanded blank)
$129 from DohDohDohDohDohDohDohDoh, 7'2" in one or two peice
cheers

Thanks Boris,
I sure do know where Tackle Power at Sandgate is! I was in there on Saturday and bought a heap of plastics and jig heads. They have 30% off this stuff until end of trade on Thursday night.

I'll drop in and have a look at them.

Good idea to take the reel with you if you already have it, otherwise grab one at the shop and fit up to the rods you choose to see if it balances up nicely, nothing worse than buying a rod, get home and put on the reel and the tip nose dives to the floor! There are heaps of tip heavy rods around that will not balance up with 1000 size reel weights.
Pflueger is the manufacturer, trion is the model.
The Daiwa Sol ABT Ltd Ed is a 2-4kg rated rod.

Have a look at the Daiwa Sol Type2 701lxs this is a 1-3kg and 1 piece.

Well I made my decision,

Well Team,
I've bought a Shimano STP Litespin 731 rod and a Stradic CI4 reel in 1000F size.

I tried a heap of different rods and quite a few 1000 weight reels and this combo just "felt" right! The balance etcetera was just there for me!

Now to see if my judgement is accurate! The family and I are off to Tea Gardens (Hawks Nest) for Easter. Guess which combo is going to get some work!

Thanks to everone for your help and suggestions.

Geoff

I'd say your judgement is spot on - I have the same combo with a standard stradic, not the CI4 and it is a sweet little setup.
