Personally i would go the Symetre by shimano but im a shimano man, if you check out DohDohDohDohDohDohDohDoh.com.au, they have maybe a dozen or so reels in the Daiwa range that are under $150.

But for any brand of reel under $150 i dont think you will experience much difference in the way of performance.

go the symetre!
they are a great little reel for their price and do the job perfectly
for the extra few dollars you will be getting a much better reel then the sienna

Never used one mate but you get what you pay for. If he wants a better quality reel buy the Symetre.

Pflueger president... About $65 shipped in from the USA. Smoother than the Symetre.

Had one.. wouldn't touch another with someone elses 30ft pole. There are better reels for half the price...

the stradics shred but they r about $230-250. bit out of your price range but they will last for ever and they have a awsome drag on them

I know the deal have already been done, but there are some sites that are selling stradics for $159. Might wanna take a look at them if he want something a bit better. Besides saying that my brother has a slade and for the price. it has some go for it.
