Finding 15hp mercury gearbox?

Ok, i know this isnt a usual post for a 4x4 forum but was hoping someone on here might race dingys and been able to help.

I have an American model 15hp Mercury 2 Stroke outboard, the type they race in the Avon decent ect which i use on the back of my 2.7m inflatable for jumping and use in the surf. I had a hydrofoil on it and over NYE some time at Wedge i managed to snap one of the anti Cavitation plates clean off the gearbox housing and lost it.

Now i need to find either a full gearbox or just the housing to rebuild mine and was hoping someone from the racing feilds might have a contact. They run the same box as the 9.9hp and im pretty sure the housing is the same in the 6 and 8hp ones so any of those would be suitable. I'd just prefer not to have to buy a new one. Otherwise who would i contact for a race gearbox for it?

Thanks, Ben

Not much of a job to get it welded back up.

I'm dinghy racing but not the US model so cannot help you out with spares. Try Allsafe Marine in Rocko.

BTW - unless doing it youself, replacing a housing takes labour - shimming must be done right, so if you cannot weld repair, go for a S/H box and keep your old internals for spares.

Thanks mate, main problem is the missing half is gone completly, somewhere in the surf at Wedge. I was kind of hoping to just replace the whole box so i can sell it and buy one of the Japanese 15/Tohatsu 18hp ones from new.

Ill give them a try mate, Ben
