Saw a guy using a 2 litre clear plastic juice bottle cut a cross in the front bend in the corners but in some bread find a nice weedy spot on some flats low tide weigh it down and it's supposed to work a treat. Mullet swim in on the run in tide to feed and can't get out. I have never tried it but it's supposed to work. Can't hurt for the price of a juice bottle .

I catch them for friends and all i do is use a tiny chemically sharpened hook and squeeze off a little bit of prawn (remove shell) about the size of your pinky finger nail and cast out weightless, weightless is a must.

Using this method i catch one EVERY cast.

I think a cast-net would be the best option. Its just a bit expensive though.

The clear juice bottle with a peice cut out of the top bait with bread works a treat. Cast nets are illegal in NSW.
Good luck.

Get a large bowl, preferably clear, put some bread in it. stretch gladwrap all around it, make a small hole in the centre and sink it carefully. it will catch em.
my grandfather was a potty slayer. he used the clear bait catcher, cylindrical thing, he cut the old cork handline up straight down the middle then trimmed it off at about 40mm long and glued 2 of them to the top of the trap, one at either side of the tie off lug so the top of the trap suspended just below the surface. i'm talkin 20 years ago so a bit of trial and error could be in order due to weight differences in materials. i seen his traps catch plenty of mullet right beside sunken ones doing not that much. the fish would feed off the surface on the bread that had escaped the trap. he also used just enough burley to get them in the feeding frenzy and looking for more food. once his traps were scratched he renewed , he swore that the trap needed to be as clear as. give it a go would love to hear any results.

Tiny bit of prawn or pipi on a tiny longshank, unwieghted or with a tiny split shot, seems to do the trick for us.

We fill an esky with livies (for mulloway) in half an hour tops.

Key ingredient - burley the hell out of 'em...

Cast net is by far the quickest method IMO, but it depends on the area, I have a creek that opens up to the ocean near where i live , it is shallow in places (1 ft ) and you can see them swimming around , mullet r no doubt the dumest fish around and love getting netted

If your current hook is too large try using small fly hooks

No bigger than number 8 needle sneck. I use 12's. Berley to buggery and put a bit of bread on the hook, squash it around the shank and leave the part near the tip fluffy then cast it. They always hit the fluffy bit
