Making Pixy SW Safe

Hey guys, I was wondering if there is any way to make a Liberto Pixy SW safe. If I were to respray one of these, could some sort of coating protect it from corrosion?

Any help would be appreciated.

bearings are an issue order crbb's for it...

as for frame and sideplate,
1) just don't chip the paint,
2) wash often and
3) coat with a water dispersant

and you'll be fine... saltwater here we come

how different are they from an alphas? if you don't have one already maybe look at the alphas crbb's are already equipped.

The Pixy can cast much lighter weights than the Alphas because of the spool. I have owned the Alphas and i didn't like it. I am only looking to buy a used Pixy, it has a bit of boat rash and 1 scratch on the sideplate. The Pixy also has 1 bearing in each knob while the Alphas has no bearings in the knobs. But yeh, if there is a way to make the frame and side plates SW safe, then I would buy it and get it fully resprayed and coated with something to protect it.

Alphas R casts an sx40 how light a lure do you want to cast??

How far can the Alphas R cast an SX40? Honestly, I dont use anything lighter than an SX40, and even if an Alphas R can cast an SX40, it would definitely require more effort to match the Pixy's distance. Besides, they don't put "Small Lure Specialty" on the box for nothing.

it's pushing alphas R casting sx40 to be honest, the spool don't reach any good speed and even if the lure will get sent out it's still bit of struggle.

pixy's mad caster and with abec7s on they are insane. they will outcast alphas R easily. however i see no point using such a set up in SW, just grab urself a good spin if u wanna fish light baits.

Had a liberto pixy a while back was absolutely insane! Casts light lures no problems and if i had bought a lighter rod for it no doubt i would have cast even further! Wish I didnt sell it !

I am only considering a Pixy first because I can currently get one for a good price. Secondly, i prefer BC over spin.

I was told that I could sand the reel down, coat it with Zinc, spray the paint, and then coat it with zinc again. Will this protect it from corrosion?

don't even waste your time with zinc, primer, paint and clear would suffice...

or just buy a better quality one and not have to bother,
consider the resale,
no one wants a resprayed reel...
who knows what else has been done to it...

Even if I bought a Pixy with no scratches, it still would corrode as the magnesium alloy frame doesn't have any protection. So zinc undercoats and coatings will not work even in brackish conditions with frequent cleaning with freshwater?
