...thats the collossal. Nice reel, but a tad heavier than the original, and also no 'tuned' drag....depends on what you're using it for

from what i have read it built on the Certate body where the original is a TD-Z magnesium body. hybrid air spool as the original and this model had left the wood egi knob for the newer EVA version. very smart.
pricey too, you wont get any chage out of $500+ i think.

your right Kev...

http://www.plat.co.jp/shop/catalog/p...oducts_id=7894

running out @ 65,000JPY so closer to no change from $900 delivered !

looks to be the BRADIA body externally (matt black certate platform)
internally she is a tank, hyper didi gear and 12-14 bearings...

I nearly bought one but got a Certate 2500R instead cause the colossal has a plastic rotor.

ahhh i beg to differ...fished granite island and the bluff in SA when the BIG squid come through a few years ago, we ended up using surf rods , 30lb GSP on my Daiwa EMCAST at one stage, largest i scored was a 3.2kg puppy with the biggest for the local comp going mid 4kg AND they take some serious drag so....7kg drag (at max) isnt a bad thing at times !!!
