Hey everyone....

Im keen to build my own custom rod so i was just wondering where i can get a blank and all the bits from.

And also if anyone out there has a blank that they are keen to sell im willing to buy and if anyone has any books on Rod building any info would be appreciated.

Question How did you go?

Hi Vibefreak,

Did you end up starting on your rod? I am also interested in making a rod, does anyone know of any thread started for beginner rod builders? Ie questions on rod building techniques, like guide spacing, what is the backbone and how to find it, good starter blanks, hardware, epoxies etc? I saw Hotrods weave post which is awesome but I think I need to know a few things before I get to that stage.

Vibefreak you wont be able to purchase through frogleys as they are distributors only.

Try DohDohDohDohDohDohDohDoh as they are very helpful and can supply you with rod recipes to get you started.

As far as rod building forums go try rodbuilding.org

I think there are some spacing charts on mudhole and Ian Miller might have some starting points on his website as well. Fuji probably do as well.

Also have a look at a site www.rodbuilding.org. There are some basic factsheets that are interesting.

Very addictive passtime building rods.

Tons of info and ideas.
