Options for a 7'6 rod
I recently missed out on the chance to get a ridiculously cheap Branzino Technical Master rod and am on the lookout for something else.
While recently fishing with a mate for salmon I quickly realised that using my old 10ft rod and throwing metal slices is hard work. Tired very quickly while my mate just kept on throwing lures. I dont really want a rod only capable of one role but a rod versatile enough to chase salmon/tailor, fish the flats for bream or use out in the boat, up to 12lb line class and matched to a 4000 size reel (undecided). Use in a boat is why I decided on 7'6 ( not too long for boat use but useable on the flats/beach) but the length is not set in stone. What do you guys reccomend? Cheers Matt |

I know exactly what you want! I've got a Nitro Distance Spin Mag Butt (7'6, 4-6kg) matched with a Luvias 3000 and absolutely love it! There's also the Nitro Distance Spin which is still 7'6 but a bit lighter (2-4kg) but definitely underated. My Nitro Mag Butt casts anything between 10 and 40g a mile and would be suited to running 10-20lb braid. Also a very good warranty on the Nitro's. Check 'em out! http://www.innovatorrods.com/nitro-index.html

I got myself a Hearty Rise Seabass Force 8'6" 8-14lb. Casts from 10-30g (but I've thrown bream lures a mile with it) matches my Aspire 2500 really well but a 4000 wouldnt look out of place on it. Awesome rod, $355 retail. PM riceboy for more info about it. I'm wrapped with mine, the length isnt an issue on a small boat either, just a bit of a pain getting fish right next to the boat.

Look at Japanese seabass rods though they can be hard to locate in Australia. Majorcraft make some good ones. I picked up one 7'8 4-10lb sized model of their lower range model called a crosstage and it is able to cast a 40 gram slug but light enough to also cast a totally unweighted gulp shrimp. Matched to a 2500-3000 sized reel I can't think of a more versatile setup.

I currently purchased a 7'6 zenaq snipe for the same purpose matched with a certate hyper custom 3000 add some 16lb 0.8 pe jigging braid and what a weapon. Weight class is from 4-21grm and 6-18 line.

Thanks for the suggestions fellas. There are some nice rods around, just need to look a little harder for this length.
After a PM from riceboy on where I could find some hearty rise rods locally I found and will be getting a hearty rise sylphy (where do they find these names ) 7'6 rod. Cheers |
