Which budget rod for me? $120 - $150
Hi all,
I'm after a $120 - $150 rod for a Stradic 1000. It'll be a breamin' rod only (maybe), and it needs to be 2 piece. So far my options are: 1. Pflueger Trion $130 2. Gladiator Snake Skin $115 3. Shimano Raider II $145 4. Daiwa Heartland A $140 5. Daiwa Tierra $150? I know I should bring the reel to the shop to feel how it match the rod, but early opinions will be much appreciated. |

I really like the Pflueger Trions, Heartlands are really heavy, Tierra might be more than $150, Raiders are really nice blanks and Gladiator......*cough*

Hey mate,
I have been using Wilson LCS 2-8LB 7FT 2PCE Lure Casting Special which can flick lures as light as a feather with ease. I have been using mine for a year and it has copped some stick, I will take some pictures of mine if you want more information. One more thing, they are currently $69.00 at my local DohDohDoh reduced for $100.00. Thanks BrissyBreamer Last edited by BrissyBreamer; 07-06-2009 at 05:06 PM. Reason: Price |

You cant go past the Trions for their price, casts unweighted grubs really really well and punches out hard bodies with ease.

Thanks for the input guys, I actually using a Trion at the moment and pretty happy.
Is spending the extra $50 for a TCurve worth it? |

The new model T-Curves are a hell of alot better designed than the older ones, much more comfortable to hold and still with that great T-Curve blank and componentry. Check out the Starlo Stix Tourny Pro 731 - that's an awesome rod for the money, we sell alot of them at work. retail for around $170 unless you can find old stock in which case it's about $140-150

If your happy with the Trion, dont waste your money. Spend the 50 bucks on some more lures.

Pflueger the way to go then, but hey, I saw a Pflueger President in eBay.
Is it a discontinued product or something? I can't find it in PF's website. And sorry, one more.. anybody used the Okuma Celilo? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/OKUMA-CELILO-...3A1%7C294%3A50 Last edited by UrbanAngler; 08-06-2009 at 07:14 AM. Reason: typo |
