Can't decide which one

Hey guys,
I'm new to this bream lure fishing and found 3 rods that I like in my price range but can't decide which one to get and wanted ideas on what you guys think.
1. Starlo Stix Tournament Pro 73L Spin
2. D-Red Back Spin Rods DRB 701LXS 4-8lb line 7'
3. Daiwa Tierra Spin Rods 702LXS SPIN 2pce 7’0” 4-8lb

And I know should post in the reel section but I need help on which reel too
1.Shimano Symetre fj
2.Daiwa Exceler PLUS

In total I dont really want to spend over $350.

cheers,
Brian

I suggest that you try all combinations of rods and reels that you listed, and purchase the combination that feels best in your hand. If you go to a good tackle store, make sure that the sales attendant is familiar with bream lure fishing to get good advice.
good luck with your purchase!

I've heard good thing about the tierra rod and matched up with a 1500 or 2000 tierra reel it would be a good outfit.

Brian,

I can help you with the starlo stix t/pro and tierra rods as my brother in law has both.
Starlo Stix: great rod except for the no name guides, has a painted fuji reel seat and split butt configuration, very lightweight, the rod action is similar to my Millerod XF. He has caught a heap of bream and trevally since buying this rod.
Daiwa Tierra: He bought the 2 piece as a travel rod, great quality parts used on this rod, fuji chrome alconite guides, fuji reel seat. This rod is physically heavier and it is noticeable compared to the starlo stix.
The choice is yours, for me the action and lightness of the starlo stix would be my choice, but the quality and components used on the Daiwa is better.
Hope this helps.

You'll find the Starlo Tourny Pro (black with cork split grip) to acually have the better guides. Chrome framed SiC's. The D RedBack and the Tierra both sport Alconites, chrome on the Tierra, black on the Redback.

The finish to the blanks is IMHO better on the Tierra. Also, nice long handles and the fit and finish to the grips and seats is not bad at all. Have seen some not too nice looking Starlo's on the racks. Guide spacing and setup on all is pretty good.

Now, between the two reels it is only Shimano vs. Daiwa, and we all know how that goes. The new Symetre is worlds better than the old one. Both the Symetre and the Exceller Plus have the same style of handle connection, so nothing really separating them there. Daiwa has the 1500/2000 size, which is similar to the Shimano 2500. The Symetre 1000 is way too small for any of the rods you mention. Both reels have better line management spools, but the Daiwa ABS has been running longer and is proven.

Your best bet, as others have said, is to head into the store and and check out the rods and reels, putting them together to find what feels best to you.

I've also owned both rods, althought the terria was a slightly heavier model, found the starlo to be an awesome rod, casts light lures a mile, light itself, nice progressive blank but locks into a nice curve under pressure, fair bit of guts to for such a light rod, terria, also awesome but blank was alot stiffer, and it didn't cast light weights as far, but also take into account the heavier rating, terria had alot more grunt to pull fish away from stucture, I'm in no way a expert this is just my two cents for what's it's worth
