fireline problems?

i just baught some 6lb fireline (pink 8) lol) because i needed new braid as i was running drasticly low on line after getting a big snag off the pier and acciently cutting off alot of line on the rocks. my old line was 8lb black magic and i had no problems with it at all. now i have changed to the fireline it seems very stiff and it doesnt lay itself on the spool and overflows even when the spool isnt that full when i wind in slack line, pain in the ass. so what can i do to overcome thins, does it need wearing in, and will it get softer, or will it stay like this?
anyone else had the same problem?
also if i do need to wear in/break in this line how do i spped up the process so i dont have to put up with it much longer?

cheers

Thumbs up Re;-Fireline

Honestly.....I've never had a problem as yet with Fireline,Braid or Crystal in any strength.
Plus 'no problems' at all with Vanish either.
Until I do? And if I do? I'm sticking with it!!!
The more use the better ;-)
Gae.

Question

If it is a low quality reel you will continue to have the problem.

i dont think its a low quality reel. its a daiwa procaster 2000x
used the line about 3 times so far and its still the same, i have to put pressure on it b running it trough my fingers before it goes on the spool to stop ot going everywhere grrrr
on the other hand the line looks goodhaha

when fishing with Fireline I occasionally cast out and wind it back through my fingers but i've never had it go everywhere. That only happens to me with nylon and sometimes fluro.

yeah but dont do that untill its a little bit older coz if its new it will strip the colour off unless its crystal

I don't really mind if the colour of the line fades, as long as it works. I believe it also helps wear in new line. I had some green Fireline which lost most of the colour and it worked better than it did with colour, sure it fluffed a bit but it still pulled fish.

Don't feel that you need to buy $60 line to catch bream, sure it may help but even +45cm can be caught on Fireline.

i simply don't use fireline. they r terrible compared with real braids.
if ur on the budget and have to use fireline, just get a 1oz sinker and cast out and wind in fast for maybe 1hr or 2 until the color fades a bit and it'll be a little bit better.
then again, using better quality line can certainly make ur trip far more enjoyable.
echo1, u certainly can pull 45cm+ bream with fireline but well, u can also do that with 12lb mono on alvey set up why don't u do that? fishing's all about enjoying the process of catching fish with bait( real or artificial) and better gear always makes the process more trouble-free. i use 10lb varivas seabass and man i never ever need to worry anything about the line. this braid's as thin as 1lb fireline and handling's significantly better so that i can focus on fishing not on how good the line lay is on my reel.

i think your making up stuff when you say your 10lb varivas seabass is thinner than 1lb fireline, because seabass 10lb has a 0.8mm diametre and my 4lb fireline is 0.13 diametre...???

I think you will find that the difference in thickness between varivas 10lb and the1lb fireline wil be minimal. I've been using Sunline Super PE lately, it's only a tad more expensive than fireline bu it's beenworth every penny! I'm still completely sold on my Unitika braids, but the Super PE is great for those times when I can't afford the Unitika.

IMO if you spend that little bit extra at the start you will enjoy your outfit far more and not feel the need to upgrade....so everyone should buy a stella and megabass rod and spool it with unitika or varivas when they're starting out But seriousley it's worth looking at a good line if your going to maximise the performance of a cheaper outfit

i don't think fireline should give their line a diamatre. diametre means: length of a straight line passing through the center of a circle and connecting opposite points on its circumference. since fireline's FLAT meaning 1lb fireline might be 0.13 from one side to the other but 0.9 viewed from 90 degrees. LOL
if and only if u've ever used varivas, u'll understand why i stated that 10lb fireline's thinner than 1lb fireline. i've used both and compared them side by side so i know.
