hi i am 14 years old and have been interested in soft plastic fishing since June last year. i have a wide range of plastics in all shapes and sizes. i live in brisbane and i am still unable to catch a bream on softplastics
. i have only managed to catch flathead and small snapper. there is nothing wrong about catching flathead and snapper but as a keen bream fishermen i am just wondering if anyone can tell me how, where and what to use in brisbane. Being a land based angler i am restricted to a few areas. thanks

Not having fished lately due to uni, I can't comment much about the spots that have been firing recently.
However, from the past, I would recommend Manly, either from the rockwall or the jetty. Google Maps link The aerial view of the water besides the rockwall doesn't exactly look inviting, but it's much more picturesque once you're there. I've caught a few bream and flathead there. The jetty is just 100m south; 've never fished there but plan to, have heard good reports. If you prefer the G.Coast, you can try next to Pacific Fair. It probably won't catch you a huge bream, but can probably start you off. I think that was where I caught my first bream, using a 2" Power Minnow in Smelt cast next to one of the pontoons. Google Maps link If you're very desperate, try using Gulps. But it'll probably be a long while before you'll stop using them.

There are plenty of land-based options to target bream in all quality ranges. What you'll find most success is having some idea of the breeding nature and patterns of the bream during the winter seasons.
If anything at present, Redcliffe foreshores really, really early on the high tide near rockwalls, the bridges, etc, and stalking by walking will yield some success, but on most occassions they're not huge bream, however if you fish very light gear, you'll have some fun. Fish small HBs like Rebel crawdad patterns due to the numerous yabby holes and all little minnow patterns such as your SX-40s. For SPs, I'd stick to Atomic Fat Grubs in Browncrawdad and the Gulp 2" shrimp in any colour as a lot of shrimp glide along there as well. Don't be afraid to cast 3" Dropshot minnows either with their close ressemblance to hardyheads and other baitfish scattering around. Manly as mentioned is also an option and then down the G.C. where you'll have to move around a bit, but they're not SMALL bream at all. If you're there at the right time of day, get ready to be busted up, cos they'll lurk big time under bridges on the change of tides and around rocky intersections. Same SP range use. One more thing to try if you're up to it.......... the surf! You want unbelievable experience of fighting fiesty bream and dart in the surf, then I'd do that especially now. Land-based is not restricted up here. Just be prepared to explore a little.
