Netting at Ascot Waters

Wandered down to Acot Waters today at around 4:30 and arived at the same time as two guys who proceeded to throw net from the footbridge. I'm sure we're all aware that the swan and canning rivers are closed to all forms of recreational netting and the way these guys were acting I think they were aware too.

I didn't have thwe fisheries number in my mobile but will have one in there for next time. Not sure if they have an inspector though

just thought i'd let you know.

It wouldn't have helped

You would of called them and they would of just taken some details They don't have the money or manpower to police the river or pretty much anywhere. All you could do is try and get the rego of their car and try to explain that what they are doing is illegal, and then try not to resort to violence.

Fisheries numbers are:

92780400 - working hours

0419 192 845 - h\h

If you have a camera then do what I do, take a couple of pics and a pic of the car and send them in to Fisheries by e-mail. One day they might get the hint, that or I'll send them to a newspaper and then we'll see what happens.

I think the newspaper thing is worth the effort. If we can show the public and more importantly the idiots in charge of the funds that this is occurring then maybe something will be done. Especially since so much "effort" is currently being directed at fish stock preservation.
