Jigging Rods

Hi all,

Sorry this topic maybe a bit off the bream topic. But just wondering are there any jigging man on this site.
I just recieved 5 Smith jigging rods and ready for my Coral sea trip in June. The jigging rods I have is 55Nirai, WGJ S53H, Fremantle, AMJ 52EX and one popping rod Komodo Dragon. The resaon I brought these rods is I've heard a lot of good feedback back from the jigging expert and some of my Japanese frishing mates. Just wondering who else has used them and the feedback they have.

Regards

Yipd

There is a few guys who do some jigging on the site. I have the Smith Fremantle and absolutely love it. It is a fairly brutal rod but is short enough to not be overpowering for a small guy like me. I was originally going to get a Nirai but there was none available at the time. I think it may have been a better option as it was just a tad softer but don't regret buying the Fremantle. The Smith rods are exceptional quality. I am looking to get a Kerama for popper fishing, I think the Komodo may be a little bit much for me being a PE12 rod.
The AMJ is pretty amazing too. I have seen it fished with PE8 and was sure it was going to break but it has taken the punishment well. I think it would probably be best suited to PE5 or there abouts.
Is your trip with Nomad? I am just looking in to doing a trip with them next year. Will be interested to get your feed back when you return.

Cheers, Dror

Dror,

Yes, I am going with Nomad, I went to the Croal sea trip with them last year, it was awsome, pulling 30-40kg GT, 10kg+ Coral trout and jigging huge Doggies from the reef......and many others speices...
I am heading to the Croal sea in June. Before that I will be trying to some light jigging session in NSW for Kingies to test these Smith rods. I am matching the Fremantle and Niai with Stella 20000PG and Dogflight. What reels are you using Dror?

Hi Guys
Where did you order your Smith rods from?

I'm off to Cape York in November out on the reef with Seafaris again. Went last year and it was sensational. I wanted to go on NOmad this year but couldn't find others to go with. There was to much price difference between the to for most of last years crew to justify.
Next years different, bugger em all and I'm going no matter what!

I wanted to upgrade my rods, last year I just bought the saltiga rods as we hadn't much time left and I didn't really know what I was after. Main rods for replacements are to suit my Saltiga 4500, 6500exp and my dogfight. Any surgestions?

Greg

Mate, I got all my jigging rods from my friend in japan. Noramlly I just call him and see which rod I am after and he send it to me by Fedex. Apart from Smith, Fisherman and carpanter will be good choose(they never let me down).

I am using a Stella 20000 on my Fremantle. I did have a Van Staal on it but someone decided to relieve me of it.
Greg there are a few Smith dealers in Australia. I have bought my Smith rods locally from a friend who owns a tackle store and happens to be one of the Smith dealers. The rods are import by Australian Angling. There web site is here
http://www.australianangling.com.au
They have a list of dealers on the site. There are quite a few in Sydney.

Cheers, Dror
