40 knts past Barrack St who's GAME

I must start by saying this thread is tongue in cheek BUT.

I just got my Swan and Canning Rivers Boating Guide from
the DPI . I notice there is an open water section going past
the Barrack St Jetty. This will save time slowing down for those
Ferries and charters.
On the upper Swan map it shows it as open water around the
jetties. That will be fun at 40 knts.

OK we all know different but it makes you wonder who does
there proof reading.

Gary

Yep, but guess what happens if we try to kick up a fuss. Thats what you get apparently for doing the responsible thing and being a co-operative organisation with them come competition time. Why dont they start checking bag limits too, im sure that wont take too much time off their already busy days. Maybe we should all apply to cruise the river all day.

Just wait til people start doing the 40 knots. Show them the pamphlet and you cant get fined... They will be right off it.

Cleetus and i spoke to them while out fishing on Saturday and i raised the question about that very area and they said yes it is open water but just watch out for ferries and that was it. I think they need to make a lot of changes to the rules here, i spent 2 months in Tassie over x-mas and the rules as well as the way they inforce them is far better than here and on most days (maybe 8 out of 10) there was an officer at the ramp checking pdf's, safety gear, your catch and boats condition and if you dont follow the rules you get hammered, simple. In the time that i was there i didnt see one idiot on the water (not saying they were not there) and there was no agro or hassle.

my 2 cents

I do hope for tournaments public profile that we continue to do the 8 knots past the barrack st area. Its not that much of an inconvenience really JMO

Brad,

I agree , I thought it was a mistake but maybe it isn't.
Perhaps we should lobby to make it an 8 knot zone.
Maybe swap it for the strech from SPYC to the Canning
bridge and from the bridge to deep water point.
It should be the same as up river from the Windan if
there's something on it's 8 knots .

JMO Gary

Personally I say leave it alone.

Firstly the section between SoPYC has reason to be 8knots. I would prefer it be open wate too but it is a mooring zone and a yaght club and when your trying to go through racing there it's hazardess with the amount of yaghts out on there.

The area at Barrack street would be hopeless to put to 8 knots for no reason other then fishing. Firstly it's a jetty for big boats so expect to put up with traffic if you fish it. I you want o scream through then you can but most people would take it easy around a ferry wouldnt they.

The rule there was always 8knots within 45m of the jetties. This was the signposted limit d the one the police enforced while I worked at the surfcats accross the river.

To volanteerily reduce the speed will give the greenies nore ammo to slow everthing down. If we have more systems like deep water point and maylands it will get too confusing for people.

Just my 2 cents

I think the greenies have bugger all to do with it. It's a very busy area and when you combine idiots in 35ft boats that like to race through there as well I'd prefer it to be 8kts and be safe.
