I'd go with 4lb fireline.
Try the killer tomato, and the brown looking one.
Also there is an orange and gold one which works.
Sorry i dont know all the names

For bream go the size 2 (60mm) wrigglers. Bloodworm is a good colour to start with. After that almost any other colour is good. I've heard good reports about Avocado, Killer tomato, jelly prawn.

Fireline for softies - go 4lb (4lb is fine for any style of bream lure fishing). Can't help you with the surf fishing.

James.

Wrigler: Bloodworm, Advocado and JellyPrawn for Bream in no 2 & 3
Fish: Gary Glitter for bream in no 2 & 3

For Surf try the shads, but depends on what you are targeting. We have caught Snook, Herring and Rock cod in the JellyPrawn and advocado

Cheers

Hi Sandworm,

I've had a bit of success on the size 2 Hot Tomato and Bloodworm Wrigglers on the Patto and the Yarra.

I haven't tried them yet but I also reckon the Jelly Prawn and Gold Wrigglers might tempt the bigger bream feeding on mussels.

Where are they on sale at ? I need to stock up on a few myself...damn toadies!!!!

http://www.fishnet.com.au/library/ar...fa78b99b9d4241

above is a link to the sizes and colours etc.

I was going to get the smalles in each as they look huge after a 2"fatgrub (atomic)

65mm is the smallest 80mm next

Looks like a pack of
65mm SQW
bloodworm, avocaado, jelly prawn, 24 carrot (very similar to jelly prawn so maybe i wont)

50mm SQF
garry glitter

P.S Sale is on at Big W on monday (make sure before you go so i dont give you the run around

also fireline is on sale.

P.PS i dont plan to use SP at the surf i just wondered what weigh line (fireline) to use.

The fish heads are too weighty for bream. Stick to the ball heads. We have found that some of the other jig heads work better than the sguidgy heads, as they get straightened out too easily by the big bream.

In the classified section Mike has advertised some hooks. We are using these that we have customised with split shot. They are nice and strong, yet also flexible. We also use the Gamakatsu jig heads and find that the squidgys fish really well on these.

Cheers

Sandworm...

Soft plastics are kick-ass on Salmon...if you can, take some with you and rig them up on the bottom dropper of your paternoster rig (like you would a surf-popper). Particularly the colours that represent small fish...(squidgy Black / Gold, Mullet etc).

Better still cast and retrieve.

It's not Fireline but I highly recommend 12lb Platypus Platinum for your surf fishing. Try a Mister Twister on the bottom dropper, it's an age old technique that works.

As for Squidgies I caught a couple of bream and a few annoying pike on the Silver Fox 50mm fish last weekend. I've found the wrigglers to be useless - must be doing something wrong.

Guys,

Dont get too excited about Squidgies at Big W. Was at the Fountain Gate (Vic) storte today, and the range was somewhat limited - perhaps 3 or 4 styles in one or two colours. They only had 4 or 5 packs of jig heads.

But at $16 for 125 yd spool fo 6lb fireline, well, that is exciting!

Cheers,
Scott

Same at Big W Capalaba, Squidgies for $5.95 in about 4 different varieties. DohDohDohDohDoh and Springwood Marine have the complete collection at the same price.
4lb Fireline for $16.64 caught the eye though.

Yes a 2.50am post is ridiculous, my excuse is that I'm relaxing with a glass of water. I've just come home from an 18hr relay raising funds for cancer research. Running 8km at 0130 reminded me of my old Army days. Goodnight and good fishing.

Definately the bloodworm wriggler. They go off, if you can keep the flatties away from them. Other colors I have had success on is Killer Tomato, Gary Glitter and 24 Carrot!
