Post Looking for a bream rod under $100.

G'day,

I need a better rod. I'm using some old Silstar that's been around since the dino age. And its now seriously stuffed, I've done all I can but it needs to be put out of its misery. It needs to be under $100, I'm a tad strapped for cash at the moment.

--Requirments-
*Under $100.
*Cork grips, I only like cork gripped rods. If you know of a rod that is under $100 and has cork grips I want it!
*If there is no rods under $100 with cork grips, please tell me the cheapest rod with them.

If you have a second hand rod and want to sell it to me, first of send me a Personal Message with your details and information about the rod. Than if you have MSN Messenger add "death.or.glory-@hotmail.com" so we can arrange something.

Also: Currently Selling- Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 1003LP Bait Caster.
Its brand new, not a mark on it, comes with original box and booklet.
Any reasonable price will do, I'll trade for other items. It needs to go.

Thanks, Newby.

Newby,

The Shimano squidgies range are pretty decent for the under $100 range...I havnt seen too many other graphite rods under that....

If you want to spend just a few dollars more, the Daiwa Heartland IM6 range are a very nice rod, and last I seen they were around the $100 to $120 range.

The Heartland IM6 Graphite HL662LFS is a 6'6 4-6lb line rated rod is a very nice rod...

Something to start you off....I am sure there will be quite a few others to choose from...

Thanks,

I'll have a look at them rods now. I'm guessing that they would be on "Campbellsprotackle"?

Thanks for that.

Cheers, Newby.

Yes they are, the Daiwa's are under the Heartland Spin Rods section and the Squidgy is under the Shimano Steve Starling Series Rods section

I have one of the Heartland rods I mentioned above, and it still gets plenty of use, sometimes over my other higher end rods!

I got a couple of the Squidgy Spin 7' for the missus to use, and they are great for flickin plastics for bream, bass and flatties....and unless you are going to use it for anything larger you might find the Barra spin a bit too heavy...

But I reckon if you can hold out and save that little bit extra, go for the Daiwa IM6, $119 at CPT....by far a better level of rod than the Squidgy series as it is a full graphite blank and not a graphite reinforced one like the squidgies rods are

Thanks,

The Squidgy Spin 7' looks even better than the other one. I'll have a look at a few other rods that people recommend but it looks like a winner so far.

Cheers, Newby.

lol, cork grips. You can get a shakespear synergy rod brand new for $30, and thats graphite. Oh yeah, AND it's got cork grips otherwise, as already mentioned, the Dropshot is pretty good value for money.

Hey Newby, on Sunday, I just bought the rod fatbream suggested, Silstar Hi Graphite HP601SPXL 6' and I love it, light and whippy. Great rod indeed, check it out. Selling for under the $100 mark but I got a discount, thanks to a mate who works at a tackle shop. My next rod is going to be even better!

Cheers LR
