Just a question for all you rod guru's.
I snapped 10" of the end of my Softbodz. Is it worth removing all the runners etc and respacing them? The rod is 5' 8" now. Would it make a good rod for yacht clubs etc or is it tooo short? I realise the sensitivity will be lost with the thinnest 10" missing. Will I just be wasting my time? All comments appreciated. Thanks Muzz.

I'd get the tip replaced, then just have it as a spare, or for other people to use when you take em fishing...

muzz,
as my position in the local tackle store i see it all the time, most people just wack a new tip on and depends were it snapped it will cost to much to get the runners rebound.. unless you want a spare rod... cheers dan

I also recently snapped the tip off my rod. It was a simple case of trimming of the second last guide and replacing it with a new tip. $5 dollars at my local store to fix.
It has obviuosly lost some sensitivity, and the action is not quite the same, but it is still very usable, that being said, soft plastic fishng and vibe fishing just doesn't feel the same. It will live to fight another day but as a backup or mate's rod. cheers Mick |

How many struddies you popped now muzz? Maybe check out something that doesnt seem to snap as much? Or maybe i should buy you a rod tube for christmas.....
Going from 6'6 to 5'8 is going to be pretty detrimental to the action, especially if its your go to placcy rod. The tip is where all the sensitivity is. I would say its time for a chat with cheryl and go down to got one and find a new toy... |

I had the same thing happen to my sofbodz in the recent Perth Rd. muzz, I now have a 5'8" 1-3kg. Paul at Anglers Paradise put a new tip on it for me in about 5 mins came up trumps I now just use it for hard bodies.

i use a i think its either 5'6 or 5'8 Graphite USA 1-3kg when fishing yacht clubs, its alright to use but abit small for my taste.
Have to say it can save your but when getting on to big fish in tight spaces.
