Go the dropshot for sure. at around $60 - $85 they're awesome value. I own a 2-4kg 6'6 for hardbodies and it's great.
If it's for light soft plastics fishing for bream i'd probably go 6'10 1-3kg because you'll get more control of the plastics movement. |

There's 3-4 good rods around the price range you're looking for.
Yes, the berkley dropshot is a good rod. Also, consider these two rods: Shimano Rack Raider 3-5kg Shimano Bream Finnesse 2-5kg Pfleuger Trion 2-4kg They are all around the budget you are aiming at. The pfleuger trion is probably the pick of the bunch. It's sold a lot cheaper than it's actual worth as they can make a good number of them. It's actual worth is around $250 and only sold in most areas at only around $100. It was at one stage $189. It is probably the no. 1 in the middle-end market rods, howver, the other rods have pretty much the same characteristics and are just about as good in terms of quality. The 7'0" rods aren't as stiff as you think. They have the ability to cast a little longer than it's shorter cousins, and are a great small pelagic and bream rod.

Mate shop around, i paid around 110 for my pflueger trion, i use the 7ft 2-5 kg, and although its 2-5kg its feels as subtle as other brands in 1-3kg.. a very good bream rod.

The trion is my fav bream rod but my old bream rod was a 7ft2 2-4kg dropshot, i use the dropshot for chasing squire and tailor as its a little bit more beefy than the trion, but try the 1-3kg dropshot if you cant get the trion cheap, and i favour the longer rods, much more fun fighting the fish and casting ect. ps i always cut the butt short on my rods.

LOL...... don't think it takes a genius to work out wot u're saying.
Wow, I didn't know the trions were so expensive in SA. As rabbitoh said, they are quite inexpensive here in QLD. Easily pick one up for $100 here. The trions have a smoother graphite edge to it in terms of it's make. It's force is better distributed through the blank. It'll handle solid snapper, bream, australian salmon, tailor, etc. better than other middle-end market cousins. But, there's nothing wrong with the other rods either as they'll handle them well too. It's the force distribution through the rod that gives it an edge. Make sure you try all the rods out. Don't just go trion. You may prefer the Dropshot, or the rack raider. Take your reel with you too to match it up and feel the balance through the rod. Make sure it feels comfortable for you. Hopefully this sale you go to will have wot you seek. I'm not too sure wot type of tackle shops you have there, but the bigger ones normally have a better range and better competitive prices, in general.
