Is it any good? Platypus SuperBraid
I got a spool of this in the prize pack in the last comp, alot of people seemed to have put it up for sale.
Is it not what people would deem as "quality" braid compared to the line systems braid? Is anyone out there using it? I got fireline on at the moment and wonder when I go to swap it out to use the platypus or grab some line system braid. |

hey shane i use the super braid at the moment and i don't have any problems with it so far and before that i always used fireline. If ya don't try it ya only gonna get other peoples opinion. The reason ya might see people selling it, is it's like anything people are used to using one brand and not trying anything else. I would say just give it a go specially since ya paid nothing for it.
Cheers tim

Hi Mate.
You shouldnt take too much from people selling it (such as myself and the others recently). I think I've got about 4 or 5 spools this year so far from tournies, and believe me I dont change my line often as I actually prefer my braid when its old, so I'd say myself and others would simply be offloading spare gear. I have one reel spooled with 2lb and like any line it has its pro's and cons. It's not cheap in comparison to fireline, so getting the gear cheap from us guys selling it should definately be seen as a great opportunity to give the stuff a go, as the guy who has bought my spool is doing. Funny hey all the people who make out fireline is crap and i find it great, spoken to many a tackle shop sales person who does lots of light line fishing and all say fireline is as good as any, and thats how i find it.

A mate of mine used to be a spiderwire fanatic and thought this was good. Then one day he got a free sample of Platypus super braid in 6lb and was hooked on it. Now he has 3 of his reels spooled with the stuff in 2lb 4lb and 6lb and swears by it. I mean mate im a confessed fireline user but you read alot of positive comments bout the stuff so give it a go.

I have the 2lb on one of my reels at the moment and it has accounted for Giant Herring at Walpole and 2 kilo plus Golden Trevally at Monkey Mia, have even caught a bream or two on it. So I think it is quite good.

I used the 2lb for a while, it's o.k, personally I dont think it's worth the premium price attatched to it, but that it definately not to say i dont think its any good, it just doesnt suit me.
I've returned to 4ld fireline for close in plastics and gone the yamatoyo 6lb blue braid for anything that requires distance, this braid is stunning, silky smooth , fine and very strong. Only reason I dont use it on plastics is i watch the line as much as possible as it slides across the surface, and the blue is a bit harder to see. Cheers,Craig. |

Platypus super-braid is my equal second favourite line with Lo-stretch next to Fireline which I reckon stands heads and shoulders over everything else.
