Daiwa Hz Cheetah

Hi guys,

Just wondering whether anyone has purchased any baitcasters of late or what baitcasters do people have in their kit as their faves.

I couldn't resist the temptation to buy the Daiwa Heartland-Z CHEETAH edition of the range. It's certainly a beautiful rod to cast with. OK, this is the interesting little bit of info....... does anyone know about this rumour going around that the CHEETAH is worth a fair bit? I doubt it, but just interested to know what's been said in the pipelines.

I did have a pfleuger, but sold that one to my mate. He needed an upgrade.

I also have the pixy. Yes, I do like the high end market of rods, but as you know, there is a difference with them compared to the other ranges around. Sure enough, this little pixy can cast those little ecogear SX-40's quite a fair distance. Quite brilliant for a baitcaster to cast basically a weightless lure.

I don't use them for bream lures, just feels wrong, but I have the Barra Hunter Light and the CPlus Crankbait from BD. The Crankbait has caught me some great fish over the last 12 months.

True, true Bear. I don't usually use it for bream luring either. It's just I wanted to know how light the pixy could cast. It was quite amazing.

In fact, my baitcasters are purely for pinkies and bass. My spin, is still the gear to use for those breambos.

Silly thing is, I've actually found it easier and probably would change if I could find an outfit I was happy with. Like anything, it's just something different.

hmmm......... this Daiwa HZ CHEETAH is actually worth around $1100. Aren't we lucky we don't have to pay such prices for these rods when they're out in OZ.... yikes!

On the Daiwa Japan website the Cheetah has a list price of 43000Yen or about $500Aus so I hope you didn't pay anywhere near $1100 for it.

Cheers, Dror

Nope..... i only paid what the RRP in Australia was which was $500. But from a colleague in Japan, they are a rare rod and over there, people are chasing that rod in some ways as a collector's item. Go figure, which brought the worth of the rod up to $1100.

I was stunned when I was told that.
