New Shimano Vanford

Look I'm not usually a Shimano guy but the direction of the newer Daiwas is not really doing much for me. This Shimano has potential. Looks like the bent body design is gone to.

We did a couple of reel replacements last week and was keen to look at the new Shimano offering. Disappointingly no one has them to see, feel and touch in the flesh. Living regionally we are somewhat limited however MO are only 2 hours away so went there but again no reel to see. Stock at the moment is unreliable at best. Ended up sticking with another LT Daiwa which for our light estuary work which will be more than adequate.
Be interested to hear of any one else who has be able to purchase one and their impressions.

They're a Ci4+ bodied Stradic FL, a majority of parts are swap over between the two reels.

Solid enough, I've put hands on them but not interested enough to fork out for one at their release as some people have done. I've got a FL Stradic and it's a fine reel - very very busy parts wise but solid and smooth.

I'll get one in time - shame about its name though.

The stock situation is woeful - shops get one or two if they're not a major player and high dollar account holder I hear, they get say 2 new rods and they sell out. Its no good for the retailer and its no good for the consumer. This year's Chinavirus has really drowned out any real forward movement.

Didn't want to download the pics off my FB so enjoy a crumby screen shot ha

I'm tempted to just buy it and give it a run. I dunno I'm just interested in the comparison to the newer Daiwas. For me the newer Daiwa reels are looking very 'Shimano' like or even worse lol.

Look...

I pulled the trigger last week on a OG SOL Type 1 3000...

Thats how much faith I have in Daiwa.

I'll get a "Vajdkfbryehevjsiiford" when the times right and the prices normalise - also won't be buying in Aus due to gear ratios being unavailable and I want a shallow spool.

If these options aren't available - importing myself. Not sure why the guys at Shimano Australia (the big wigs) don't understand about it?

What's going on here....the world's has well and truly gone mad. Slazmo bought a Daiwa and I'm considering a Shimano!!! The old Sol is a slazmo type real though. They do seem to be simple and solid reels. Maybe I'll just stick to the old Steez.

Shimano aus have always been useless when it comes to shallow spool options.

Well you know, if they're worth it I'll get them.

Just don't care for the Tatula based platforms and the crappy T Wing options of today and the billion various models with a slight ratio, name and or colour change - that too with their current spin offerings.
