Does size really matter?
To those with a bit more experience than me can you tell me what I could expect in casting distance differences from 1-3 kg rod in 6'6 to a 1-3 kg 7' rod using the same size lures say a Kangoku Shads with the same size braid.

More to do with casting technique than length of rod imho.

There's a lot more factors than just length to take into account
I find that when using graphite rods a slow action will load up a lot more and sort of "ping" mid sized bream lures better than a fast tapered rod, whereas a fast taper lends better to lighter lures. The recovery speed of the graphite will also affect how well your rod transfers energy to your lure, faster (stiffer) rods tend to increase said "ping".

As has been said, many things affect casting distance. Number of guides, guide placement, guide material, rod taper, rod length, recovery rate, rod weight etc. Given the number of variables, you can't assume a 7 foot will always cast the same lure further than a 6 foot 6 inch. It is more likely to though.
