Any reason for the 150hp Suzuki over the df140a? Suzuki df140a is is 36kg lighter and heaps more efficient @ 28.5lph at 5k revs vs the 150 54.1lph at 5k revs.

Bigger block/beefier gear box, will be able to swing a bigger prop if required. The 140 is basically a 115 and the 150 is a de-tuned 175.

I think on the same hull, weighed down with people/gear/full livewell and fuel, the fuel burn numbers will be a lot closer - the 140 will have to work a lot harder to achieve the same speed as the 150.

Thanks for the comment mate. You got me worried for a minute

However the the performance figures you have used are for two completely different boats. I assume these figures are from the Australian Suzuki site?

The 28.5lph economy figure is for the 750 kg hull and 54.1lph is for a 2200kg hull. A big difference in boat weights hence the economy.

Also, both hulls they tested were rated higher than the engines fitted for the on water test: 150 hp and 300 hp respectively.

Cheers

Livewell plumbing went in today. The guys also built us a pop up divider. Livewell capacity is 120L. Very neat install!

Thats awesome mate
been in the 5.6 with a 140.
i think the 150 would be better suited for your boat with obviosly top speed being a major factor doing tourneys etc... not that the 140 was underpowered but can never have enough in my opinion.

Do you know if the 150 is restricted down from 175 or is the block size etc smaller??

I know for instance a yammy 80 to turn into a 100 is quite literally r removing a restrictor with a special yammy tool lol... apparently takes 1 min to do..

Sure beats the 2000 dollar price increase

Not 100% sure Luke, but I believe it is just a de-tuned 175. Same block.

That's been my motto too, go for max recommended HP, especially with Aussie hulls. I think they're quite conservative with the ratings compared to the US for example.

Or maybe I'll just always have the speed bug after running a 200HP engine on a 19' bassboat for the last 6 years...

Cheers
Paul
