Once again the watersnake is playing up..

Hey guys,
This weekend my watersnake would work left and right buy wouldn't accelerate. I tried everything, new battery, cleaning the prop and some trick where I sparked up the head (cheers Bear and wade for the help). When I sparked it, it worked for 15mins then cut out. What's wrong with it?
I think a new kota would be the best option.

Had the same problem with mine.
The black motherboard in the head of the electric (where the 2 positive and 2 negative connections run to) was fried in mine.
If it's still under warranty, email Jarvis Marine like I did and they will be able to organise a new part for you.

After replacing that haven't had any dramas since.
Hope this helps.

It'll probably be a microswitch...5 min job to replace...If it's getting old, replace all three but keep the two that are good as spares. You should be able to order them through your local shop where you bought the motor

Oli

The best thing about the water snakes is they are pretty much totally repairable by the owner. All you need is a multimeter and a few simple tools. Any parts required you can get from these guys http://www.anglerscentral.com.au/fin...cessories.html

To me it sounds like a dodgy microswitch too, I was having similar troubles and I started at the motor head and worked back to the foot pedal to find the fault- which was actually a dud variable speed controller. Postage was more than the part and it was an easy fix.

If your ever over this way and want to check it, let me know in advance and I can show you a few things.

Theres a good chance a Kota will have problems too then you'll be in it worse having to deal with BLA, Watersnakes service is exceptional in comparison and as mentioned most problems are easily fixed on a snake without the need to send the whole motor back.

I'll change the micro switch to see if that fixes anything.

Wasnt the micro switch in the foot pedal. Believe it or not the same thing happened to mine on saturday. Found it was the black motherboard in the head. I somehow fixed mine when i touched the negative wire to the positive wire while connected to the battery. Im still gonna send mine back even though i fixed it

Yep you did the same thing to mine, it worked for 15 meters then stopped.
How long does it take to fix the motherboard?
