Trip to rockingham
Hey gents,
Ive got a trip to rockingham coming up in a few weeks. I'll be there for 6 weeks between may and june. Im looking to buy a rod over there but ill be bringing a reel and a heap of lures with me. Having never been to the area, what tackle stores would have the better selection if rods to pick from and what lures should i be bringing over with me? |

Hey Boris Complete angler Rockingham will have a higher range of rods but the store is only small but you should be able to find something, only other option is the well known DohDohDoh! Some good stores south in Mandurah as well they have a good range. Hit me up when you are over here happy to try and get you out in the boat and onto some bream in the Murray river!

Cheers for the offer mate and the advice re the tackle store.
What species should i be packing lures? Will it be squid season? When do the salmon come to the headlands? Also ive heard there are alot of blowfish, is this true for the southern areas? |

Salmon will be going off for sure just starting to make there way from the South coast now but in a few weeks will be thick can run across their backs in the ocean .
Squid are always on the cards , your problem will be getting them to the boat before the salmon nail them lol I have a boat also and live a few minutes from Rockingham , you will be well looked after when you get here, I would bring a bream rod , good for bream , Squid & Salmon |

Zmans always do well on bream in our systems 40mm to 50mm suspending hardbodies are good to heaps of brands that fit in that spec. For salmon the Doctor hook school bullies are smashing salmon and halco twisties. Follow the salmon school tracker 2017 Facebook page will keep you up to date with where the salmon are at. |

Boris, if you drop by Complete Angler walk down the road to Rockingham RV and say Hi. Could always catch up for a Cut salmon session.

Hey guys ive been over here a week now and finally got out for a fish this morning. I found a few squid in the shallow weedy bays and the salmon turned up pretty quick once I started to nail a few and the water got a bit of ink in it. I hooked into one salmon maybe 3-4kg out of a small school and he had me going for a fair while on the 8lb leader. A small brush with the peir ended in heartbreak but I'll be back out there in the morning!
Thanks again for all the advice! |

If you've got access to transport I'm heading out on the Blackwood in Augusta on Tuesday and have a spare spot on my boat
