Have a crack at splicing some plaited core rope. I hang off this one, so I'm pretty dependant on the splice.

This one is a sliding splice on 5mm rope.

Yeah that shrink makes sense for the ultimate splice security - do any people recommend against it in marine applications - I havent seen it before and I'm wondering if there is a reason like it keeps the rope wet or something.

I'll have to look into the splice on plaited core.

Edit - Just watched this vid - I'm assuming any knot that takes that long has to be the strongest out there - Just like an FG in reverse - all the wraps are already there - you just shove the leader up through them
