Gloomis X Shimano Conquest rods

Do we have a thread on this new rod?

In short, it is the new flagship rod from joint effort of Gloomis and Shimano.

Apparently Tackletour reckon it is as sensitive as the incumbent NRX but lighter thanks to the wrapping technology from Shimano.

Any pics? I love my loomis rods, I wonder if they will do these in bream weights or just the heavier models for the US of A?

Taken from their US website:

A WORLD OF INNOVATION. With G. Loomis’ original ‘Mag Bass’ fast action tapers, and featuring Shimano’s Spiral-X Technology, the new Conquest rods – a joint G. Loomis/Shimano development, takes bass fishing to the next level. With Spiral-X Technology preventing blank twist to increase casting distance and enhancing accuracy, rod strength is increased for the needed leverage to provide better hooksets and fish-fghting power. All Conquest bass rods – eight casting, four spinning - feature high performance Torzite® guide from Fuji, along with custom reel
seats with blank-though handles for added sensitivity. Conquest — the most technologically advanced bass rods on the water.

What do you guys reckon? Anyone hyped for this? I'm pretty keen to get my hands on it when it comes to Aus. They dropped the recoils (which I know a lot of ppl don't like) for Fuji Titanium Torzites and even updated to a Ci4+ skeleton seat but retain that classic G loomis rod look.

ah, yeah. They may have a lower street price, but still. They'd have to be mind bogglingly good blanks to warrant any interest from me at that price.

And seriously??? I literally clicked that youtube link whilst thinking "hopefully they will have neatened up the finish a bit more than what they did with the NRX range" and this is literally the first thing that shows up... On a rod that would be near $900 here. Poor form.

The uneven spaced thread wrapping around the guides I guess is now a classic look for Gloomis

It seems as if Loomis has a welded on market segment that they aim at, ignoring all else.
Why would they allow such rough binding out of the factory in the first place otherwise?

The Loomis story seems, on the surfce anyway, to be following an all too familier pattern highlighted by Abu. The Abu brand no longer stands head and shoulders above the rest as it once did. Each reel was made with the best materials and maintained a recognisable "look" and performance level.

However, time and buyers passed them by. Their demise, I feel came from a fanatical adherence to their "tradition" .

Seems to me that Loomis sees itself as an Orvis or a Sage and nit pitching at the mass market at all.

I'd like to see the Conquest rods here. Don't know if they are coming to Australia though. I really like the NRX rods including the fly rods.
