low riders are generally only found on longer rods (egi and surf/rock) due to the extra length of the rod, the fuji new guide concept cant be applied to long light rods as the guide sizes required (if you follow the concept) would be too large and add too much weight, so they made small frame low guies to get the line close to the blank and the reduction in sizes happening alot quicker. also your first guide is usaully alot further up the blank (away from the reel) than normal. to ensure your not 'choking' your line loops into a small ring to early decreasing your casting distance as its lost energy (to much line friction).
k guides imho are the best currently available, once youve fished with them you wont go back (providing the rod manuf. or builder sizes and spaces them correctly which all off the shelf rods dont do...but thats another thing) just the reduction in friction helps with casting so much plus i get hardly any wind knots anymore.
now the KR concept guides are another thing all together, look like a normal k with a higher frame, fuji have done alot of testing with this and if you wanna have a read of the tech stuff look at anglers resource, basically means you can use smaller ring sizes, use less 'high' frame guides but more running guides (fly guides/micro guides) to cut weight out of the mid section of your rod, and lighten the tip. ive just finished a rod with them (loomis 2-6lb) and its super light esp in the top half of the rod. i went 4mm micro guides and can fit the ring inside the ring of the smallest recoil and still pass 10lb leader knots (not the best however)

recoils are pretty ordinary, to many line issues for me and they arent actually that light in the small sizes compared to other guides.
only reason loomis use the guides and handle they do is because of cost, the general public could buy the components used on loomis rods for under $50, thats guides cork reel seat hook keeper and thread, so you really have to ask yourself are you getting your moneys worth from a loomis rod? (considering they used to sell blanks from $100-$300 for gl2-GLX and make a profit from that)or are you paying for the brand??
