Guys, you got me think as I have had that happen a few times with my new Okuma, but has never happened on my old one.

One thing I have noticed is that some runs or fireline seem a little stiffer than others. The grey I have on the new Okuma is a lot stiffer than my green. I soaked it in water for a while and it is slowly softening and seems to be looping less as well.

Just something to keep in mind.

Sounds like its worth a try Bear, Ive got 8lb smoke in the cupboard that Ive loaded on for the week. I didn`t have this prob with it previously just when I changed to 4pd yellow, it is still a most interesting problem.

I know there are wrong and right ways to spool up, any quick tips?

Cheers

I had this happen while fighting a bream the other day (there was a loose loop wrapped around it that I didn't notice until after hookup). I landed the fish, but the line snapped when I pulled it out from under there later.

Has anyone else had this happen.?

I was thinking of filling this gap with glue or something. I guess the only other option would be to pull this bit of shiny plastic off. Makes the reel look a bit ugly though.

James.
That's what I did James, a little bit of glue fixed it right up - it didn't happen often but when it did it was annoying.

Cheers,

Yep, Ive had the line caught up the top as well, real pain, cause you know its a loop thats gonna thrown off, and I can never get them back onto the spool. Im buying glue on the way home... Already ordered more line.... but ya get that.

Cheers

Hey richo.
I saw the problems you were having and when i changed to fireline i took note. The most effective and simplist way i have found to prevent the loops is to cast and point the rood straight at you lure. Befor winding pull the rod through an arc of 90 degrees and then wind. The line should be under some pressure before you wind and this heavily reduces the occurance of loops.
For me anyway
On a windy day the line between the fingers is probably the best bet!!!
