One that impresses me guys is the Shakespeare Pflueger.

Got one as a Chrissie pres and can't wait to give it a flogging. Very smooth action and very tidy unit.

Hey Guys.
I have the Samuria 2500 7i and it is a treat. I paid only $80 for it at Carrington Street Tackle. Great buy!!!
Daiwa are really bringing some awesome reels at cheap cost at the moment!

Haha, i have the Pflueger rod in the 2-6kg range.
It is awesome. Ican't believe the finish on it considering it is a factory machine made rod. It really is brilliant. i recommmend it for anyone as it is prolly in the top 5 for value for money. Around 150 (i got it at 135 at Allsports Tackle).
Matched with the reel i mentioned above, it is a dream.

Your right Kingpin.
The Daiwa Samurai are great reels. mine is the 1500 and with 7 ball bearings, an extra spool for only $100 it was a great buy.

Being an ex LBG specialist (years spent at Steep Point) I really am kinda passionate about the Penn SS series.
My current Bream Combo is a Diawa Powermesh Rod (with the changable tips) and a Penn 4200 SS.
They have a HUGE drag and hold enormous amounts of line. I like if for bream using 1 and 2kg butI have also caught Sharkies upto 7kg and Mulloway upto 10kg with no hicups from the drag.
I think they still go for around 150-170.
