It is possible that these 'copies' are actually better Bream catchers, but the quality of the manufacturing is probably inferior to the More expensive brands.

But do we really think the build quality should cost Nearly Double the Price Not too sure about that. In the end its Two pieces of Plastic Ultrasonic welded or glued together with some weights inside. Use Quality Plastic Quality Fittings & Hooks Theres your Lure Made. The works in getting all these things 100% correct to get the desired action in the end. Thats the hard part. Its not as easy as it looks. So im still not convinced that the Price tag is warranted mmmm Food for Thought.

Agree Emo the Bent Minnow is a bass lure just like the thousands of other lures that we use for Bream. But do you think that if the Bent Minnnow did not exist these other lure companies would of come up with the banana boat and the switch all by themselves. I think not.
Nordy if you haver the best top water on the market, the best jerkbait, the best stick bait and the best vibe shouldn't you have better tournament results? I'll bring the OSP bent minnow, the Tiemco stick Minnow, the Lucky Craft Tango, and the Ecogear vx35 in colour 439 and 445. |

I don't know Nordy nor do I have anything to do with Hurricane lures....or have I ever cast one for that matter....but, he did say earlier that angler skill is what catches the fish, not the individual lure. If bream simply ate the best lure more than inferior ones then the we would have a very boring sport. Angler skill plays a huge part in tournament results and success even socially. I know of plenty of anglers who could out fish me casting a $2 kmart special regardless of what I was casting and I have been bream fishing with lures for 10 years! funnily enough, these are the guys that are consistently at the top of the tree with tourney results. Regardless of who copies who, I believe brands like Hurricane and Austackle have a right to sell their products and I am also sure they have taken original designs and tweaked them to make them their own....much like everything in life. who made the first flat screen tv? who knows, but every brand now sells one and im sure some are inferior and cheaper than the original...does that mean they don't deserve a go in the market place....no. give the bloke a break. For the record, I will continue to cast high end lures, no matter the cost. |

righto hopefully this time my comment wont be deleted. The osp's out fish the competition. full stop. I have fished a hurricane and an osp side by side and the osp was moons ahead. infact up to 5 fish to 1. This is not an attack at hurricane just an observation that i think everyone is entitled to hear. Also why do they sink? was this a stuff up in manufacturing or was it on purpose? It is advertised as a surface lure so why would it sink? And the one my mate was using rolled alot more instead of skipping like the osp. These were the two main difference i noticed. As i said not an attack so i don't see why my comment could be deleted as fish tec and hurricane are BOTH site sponsors.

I know some minnows that work if anyone is having trouble deciding which lure brand to try...

I'd love to know what "designed for Aussie bream" actually means, to me it is just a load of marketing garbage. There are endless lures that catch a ship load of bream (osp bents clearly in this argument) that weren't designed with bream in mind, so why does a lure that has been clearly "modeled?" off a lure not designed for bream with a sentence saying it has been modified to suit bream automatically become better?? I'd love a straight scientific answer to this... Not just... "But we tested it here and it caught lots of bream so we reckon it's designed for them"

At the end of the day Nordy has probally brought and used more OSP Bents than most others over the years ,as he said he had to weigh the middle with lead and the bream scene has been trying to get a smaller version of the Bent for years, the reasoning appears that sometimes the bream will not take a bigger lure and a smaller ones the go,,one that does not rise to fast also on certain days.
OSP ignored the requests of breamers for years, good to see Australian owned companys listening to our needs and getting on with the job ,now excuse me i am off to try for some surface whiting on a crystal popper,it sinks like a rock but catches whiting on the surface ,funny that |
