It's amazing how fishing can take you to the beautiful places, being outdoor and relax on the riverside.
The fish you hooked is only a bonus. Great bonus though!!

Braid-----(Albright knot)---->Flourocarbon Leader 2-3m------uni knot or loop knot----> Jig head or lure (uni for JH, loop to HB).

Simple, easy, strong and no fuss.

For bait fishing I'd just run the sinker right down to the hook on the leader.

HTH

Free running is better IMO. and hooks from size 4-1 with the barbs crushed. Wide Gap hooks are also a good option as they are hard for the fish to throw and swallow too far - making for easy removal.

if your chasing bream on biat, dont be fussy, they are opportunist feeders and will take a variety of baits, but fresh or live baits are better but to use. Try fresh fish flesh any kind, skirt steak, bread, anchovies mixed up with some flower in like a ball of fishy doe is an awesome bait aswelll. they will pritty much eat anything u throw in front of em unless they are really shut down.

Hey

I've found that using the smallest amount of weight is often the best. If you are fishing from the shore, you have to have some weight so you can cast the desired distance, but if you are fishing from a jetty or some kind of structure, often dropping the rig down next to a pylon accounts for a nice sized fish!

I use the smallest ball sinker for the conditions down to a 1/0 sized hook, using cut pilchard pieces, works a treat around here.

When using SP's I use an estimated 2.5Metre fluorocarbon leader, tied via an Albright knot and then when attaching the jighead I use a loop knot.

If I am using Bait (I only use bread) I use size 6 Octopus Gamakatsu hook, without a attached above/on the trace. Trace is roughly a metre or so,

Thanks BrissyBreamer
