Depending on how it was sent, if it was registered with insurance you should be ok. Contact austpost 13 POST and they should be able to give you a run down on what you are covered for.

Australia Post will inspect the wrapping of the parcel to check if it was adequate to withstand the rigors of travelling though the post. If they deem it to be inadequate, they won't pay any compensation. If it is deemed to be adequate you will be entitled to a small compensation payment.
If the packaging is adequate, Australia Post will accept the blame for the damage. If the packaging is inadequate, Australia Post will blame the sender. If the rod was posted in a good strong tube, then I'd say you should receive something. Did you have to sign for the rod when it was delivered? If so, it will be insured to some degree. Mick |

Don't expect much from Australia Post. They aren't exactly the easiest crowd to work with. I lost a RCS spool through the post, 3 weeks of negotiation with no result. I just gave up and excepted my lost.

Ouch. How disappointing!!! I don't think Aust Post will take the blame for that one. They will turn it back on the sender and the way it was packed.

I am pretty sure once you have signed for the parcel
It pretty much says you have excepted the parcel in 100% undamaged condition. All rods should be sent via PVC rod tube Only Or heavy heavy thick cardboard tube nothing less. |

I would be demanding to see WHO signed for it then? Id be wanting a copy from the courier company, some companies are lazy(staff/delivery drivers)dont get anyone to sign they just leave it by the front door, they are not supposed to do that they should take it back and leave a delivery note in mailbox telling you to come and pick it up!

yerp! ask for a POD (proof of delivery), there should be a referance name to whom they should of delivered it too. These problems will result in an investigation and keep the pressure on them. Insurance in basically garanteed if no POD can be provided even if no insurance was paid for in the cost. covered up to either $500 or $1000 usually.
As long as it wasnt swift and shift you should be right! |
