I guess the warranty on these rods will be non-existent soon.

Really? The Loomis site says their warranty doesn't cover discontinued rods.

If they don't in fact warrantee there discontinued rods it wouldn't surprise me if the 'Geniuses' at Shimano/Loomis started discontinuing all of they're models......They'd rent the eye of they're d1cks if they thought they're was a market!

#typical.

I can't see this happening. Whether you like Shimano or not you cannot argue that a 10 year warranty on reels is good value. I have only ever had exceptional service from them the few times I've had to return a product.

It would be bad branding which all the large multi national corporations rely heavily on to sell their products. Loomis has long been a premium name in the tackle industry and to cheapen the brand by reducing the warranty would cost Shimano more than it would be worth in replacement rods.

It's all clever marketing. Discontinue the old line before bringing in a new one, everyone races to get their hands on the old model thus selling all the left overs before releasing the new model.

Spot on Stella Fella, looks like they want to concentrate more on the Aussie GL2,the new GLX and the NRX models. If the new GLX models come out in a DSR820S no problem but i dont think it will.Hope i'm wrong.

You are aware that when Shimano took over Loomis Australia that the Expediter as we knew it went out the window aren't you mate?
I don't really expect it happen but with this mob it wouldn't really surprise me too much!

It's not the Shimano branded gear I'm worried about either, it's moreso the Loomis stuff.
